Whoever said loving is easy
Must have never been in love.
Sometimes it's a land mine
One wrong slip
And it blows up
A word, a look
Lights a hidden fuse.
It's hard to see just what you have when you're seeing red
It's easy to do something that you know we'll both regret
I better stop think and count to 10 before I leave
1 I still want to hate you
2,3 I still want to leave
4 Searching for that door
5 Then I look in your eyes
6 Take a deep breath
7 Take a step back
8,9 I don't know why
we even started this fight
by the time I get to 10
I can see how blessed I've been
Words thrown so callously
Like guns when we fight
When they cut too deep
I want to leave it all behind
I have to count to 10
Before I cross that line
1 I still want to hate you
2,3 I still want to leave
4 Searching for that door
5 Then I look in your eyes
6 Take a deep breath
7 Take a step back
8,9 I don't know why
we even started this fight
by the time I get to 10
I'm right back in you arms again
We can lose what we're not thankful for
But I don't want that to happen to you and me
I better count my blessings
1 You still move me
2,3 Send chills right through me
4 You leave me wanting more
5 Then I look in your eyes
6 You're my best friend
7 that'll never end
8,9 I don't care why
we even started this fight
By the time I get to 10
By the time I get to 10
I can see how blessed I've been

“Track ten is called "Ten." I'm probably the only nerd that gets a chuckle from this, but what the heck. This is one of my favorite story lyrics. I wrote it after Ty and I got in a big fight one day. I was so mad; I had to count to ten before I totally lost it. Love is a peculiar thing - it can inspire the best and the worst feeling because we let someone in so close to us. But the reward is so great too, that always keeping that perspective is key, no matter how intense a fleeting fight can be. I wrote this song as a sort of "count to ten" experience that can help ease you out of bad feelings, and even remind you to be thankful for their best qualities too. I like the opening line "whoever said love is easy, must have never been in love" - I think everyone can relate!” —
